We are delighted to announce that we achieved our First active flag in February. The children from the Active committee worked very hard to get this and they are delighted with all the effort of the whole school.

Our Active Walkway

We launched our Active Walkway today. The children enjoyed walking and running the new route    marked out around the school ground.

Sports Con Report 2019

Pre SportsCon 

Having completed Pre SportsCon Assessments we found that on a whole the First Class Students were generally close to the average for their age group within Fingal when it came to Balance, Catching and Kicking.
We also found a trend of being below average in Striking and Skipping.

Post SportsCon

On completion of the 8 week SportsCon Programme the majority of skills had reached or surpassed the Fingal Average and nearly all skills surpassed the pre SportsCon Assessment.

Recommendations 

Over the 8 weeks there were significant improvements in terms of Physical Literacy in First Class, especially in Striking and Skipping.

We are doing a teacher workshop with Owen in January to further progress these exercises.

Fencing Ireland

We are delighted to have the privilege to welcome Fencing Ireland into our school to work with the children in 2nd class. The children are very enthusiastic and are really enjoying the activity as well as the new skills they are learning. They even got to dress up this week which really added to the experience.

We are delighted to be working with Fingal Sports Partnership again this term. First class and Senior infants are being coached in Sports Conditioning for the next 10 weeks. It teaches the basic motor skills that are central to all sports and helps increase confidence and self - esteem by allowing children to develop at their own pace.

Scoot to school day March 13th

We had a lot of enthusiastic children scoot to school on Wednesday, March 13th for Scoot to School Week. Keep active everyone!

Active school Art competition

We had our art competition for an Active School motto in February. Congratulations to Abbie Doyle who designed our new motto "Don't just sit get fit". We also have an Active Mascot who needed naming so congratulation to Harvey in Senior Infants who came up with the brilliant "Exercise Eddie"for our Active Teddy.
