Fingal Education and Sports Officer
We had the opportunity to have Owen McGrath from the Fingal learning portal run a 7 week education and sports programme that aims to teach children the reasons why we should undertake sport and physical activity.
The programme focused on 6 main areas with our second class children:
- What is physical activity?
- When and where can we participate in sport and physical activity?
- Physical benefits
- Mental benefits
- Social benefits
- The importance of a balanced diet
- Hydration
The programme is part of the SPHE curriculum by providing students with a base of information on healthy living. We had previously completed the Sports conditioning programme and we look forward to more education programmes from Fingal county council.
